Discount Theater Tickets For Homeschoolers

Coordinated By Susan Federick

Many thanks to those who voted for which shows you would like to see for the 2006-07 season. Based upon your feedback, here are the shows that will be offered for Homeschool Discounts for the next season.

Exact show time dates will be picked at a later time.

In general the offers for these shows will take place anywhere from 3 to 8 months before the show date, depending upon the availability of tickets. This last season we did the offer for  Lion King 8 months ahead of time, while for Annie, we only did that offer 2 months before the show date. (note for those going to Lion King, you should have already received your tickets in the mail by now).

As each offer comes up, we'll update the website: http://www.jsoft.com/archive/taffie/Broadway.html and you will have approx 10 days to order your tickets online by credit card.

For each show, there will be one performance date picked for the homeschool discount show  during that show's run period, but you will be able to pick from multiple seating/price levels. In general the show date will either be on a Sunday, Tues or Wed night for our best prices. Tickets will be sent directly to you.

For the 2006-07, there will be an improved seat selection process. Once an offer expires you will NOT be able to get the group sales rate, so it's very important for you to order in a timely manner once the sale for a particular show is active.

Shows take place at the Hobby Center in downtown Houston, with prices normally starting in the low $20. By going through group sales, we get tickets at a discount, before they go on sale to the public, and save quite a bit on service fees. These offers are for homeschoolers, their friends and family, so when you see an offer, do feel free to pass it on.

Homeschool Theater discounts for 2006-07 - exact dates tba Note while shows are listed below in order by show date, we may need to do the actual offers out of order, depending upon the show. Ex for both Wicked and Spamlot, those shows will need to have their offers approx 8 months prior to showdate. Watch for notices. Only one show will be offered at any one time. 1.Radio City Christmas Spectacular - Dec 7-17, 06 Direct from New York, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular stars the world-famous Rockettes. Most famous for their eye high kicks and precision dancing, the Rockettes have strutted their way into the hearts of millions and continue to be a holiday tradition. The 90-minute live production has dazzling lighting, scenery and costumes as well as a cast and crew of nearly 100 members, including Santa Claus himself and some real live animals! In addition to eye-popping contemporary scenes such as "Christmas in New York" and "Santa's Gonna Rock-n-Roll," the show features such family favorites as the legendary "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and the awe-inspiring "Living Nativity."

2.Twelve Angry Men - Feb 13-25, 2007 THE GREATEST COURTROOM DRAMA OF ALL TIME! Twelve Jurors. Twelve walks of life. And only two ways to rule: guilty or not guilty. What seems like an open-and-shut murder case becomes a twisted puzzle of prejudice and intrigue. Twelve Jurors in a murder trial are corralled in a room for the duration of their deliberation. As prejudices are tested and evidence weighed, the entire jury is forced to look past the show of the courtroom to unearth the shocking truth. Faced with playing the hangmen, these dozen men must first face themselves. Starring Richard Thomas and directed by Scott Ellis, the National Tour of TWELVE ANGRY MEN is produced by Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the country's leading not-for-profit theatres.

3.Wicked - April, 2007 (return engagement - this show sold out all performances in Nov 2005) SO MUCH HAPPENED BEFORE DOROTHY DROPPED IN. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch makes for the most spellbinding new musical in years. When WICKED opened on Broadway, it worked its magic on critics and audiences alike. The show went on to win 15 major awards, including the Grammy® and 3 Tony® Awards." Today, WICKED is "Broadway's biggest blockbuster."

4.Spamalot - May/June 2007 Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and voted Outstanding Musical of 973 AD, Monty Python's SPAMALOT is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and The Holy Grail." Directed by Tony Award-winner Mike Nichols, SPAMALOT tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchman and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up SPAMALOT.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
and All Shook Up did not have enough votes for me feel like I would make the minimum required ticket sales for those shows. For those who are interested in those shows, you will need to buy tickets directly from the box office at the regular admission fees.

Feel free to pass this onto others, contact Susan Frederick at sjf@jsoft.com with any questions. Thanks for your help.
