I wanted to take a moment this morning to let you know about a very special event that is going on this week that we would like to ask YOU to be a part of. The Eclectic Homeschool Online is taking part in a benefit for one of our own.
This really is an emergency.
Tammy Cardwell, author, publisher, speaker and volunteer editor of Eclectic Homeschool Online and a tireless worker for the homeschool community for many years, has literally had her roof fall in and a deluge of rain soak her home. No insurance and a husband whose health issues have kept him from working much the past couple of years, means they have no finances to get them into a dry place.
Tammy shared the solution they are praying for in an email: Here's the deal, though. We have a perfectly good warehouse right here, sitting at the edge of our driveway, that could be converted into a nice, small home for around $15,000.
What we want to do is renovate it and move in, then tear this thing down. For most people, $15,000 would be nothing, but for us it will take a miracle.... I just need prayer, please. I usually handle this okay, but today's been really rough; I need some help from my brothers and sisters." Details of what has happened to their home with pictures is available at the benefit web page at http://www.chirotoons.com/cardwell/ That is the situation, and the reason for this Emergency Firesale.
When you donate to help Tammy and her family, you will receive access to a wonderful package of homeschool and family resources. Just a few of the items available include:
"Homeschooling Through High School" workshop by Janice Campbell,
Abraham Lincoln Copybook Notebook from Knowledge Box Central,
The Weather Center from Homeschool with Index Cards,
Some Successful Americans Classic Biographies by Sherman Williams from CJ Press,
Haircutting 101: A Simple Guide for Cutting Your Son's Hair from Rembrance Press, and
The Story of A Bad Boy by Thomas Bailey Aldrich a classic audio dramatization from Homeschool Radio Shows.
It is really an amazing outpouring of love and support that shows just how much impact and influence Tammy has had amongst her fellow homeschool publishers over the years. That's just some of what you can download for free.
If you participated in the recent benefit for the Estes family, these are a completely new set of resources.
Tammy desperately needs to get out of this dangerous, rain soaked, mold infested house, and into their mini-warehouse. And I'll share something she did not: The warehouse will provide about 560 sq. ft. of living space -- hardly the Hotel Ritz, but at least it is a dry, safe place to hang their hats.
A minimum donation of $25 is suggested, but you are free to give whatever amount you feel lead to do. Rest assured that 100% of your contribution goes directly to the Cardwells. Donations may be made through PayPal or by check. All the information you need for donating and accessing your "Firesale" resources can be found at the benefit information page at
http://www.chirotoons.com/cardwell/
This Firesale is our way of helping Tammy & Jack toward their goal of raising enough funds to get into this very modest - but safe - "new" home. When you purchase the package we have put together, YOU are helping them reach their goal too. 100% of the money you donate for this firesale package goes directly to the Cardwell family for this purpose.
Thanks for your consideration and support!
Again, thank you for participating in this benefit for the Cardwells. You don't have to download anything to donate and you only need download the items that are of interest to you. Your donation will be a big help to making a way for Tammy's family to once again live in dry, healthy home.
Please take a look...YOU can be a real blessing to a family in need...and in return, YOUR FAMILY will receive can also receive a blessing from the wonderful selection of resources that you'll find there. This benefit will only last until Saturday, so take a look now...and then please tell a homeschooling friend or two about it!
