Here is a sampling of sections from the Texas Statutes. Generally these Sections apply to children and their parents who are currently enrolled in a school. However, our Houston area home schoolers or those considering removing their children from school can benefit from reading these Sections.

Secton 25.085 - This section deals with compulsory school attendance rule.

Section 25.086 - This section deals with exemptions to the compulsory attendance rule.

Section 25.094 - This section deals with The Failure to Attend School Rule: what constitutes failure and how it is to be handled by the school and court systems.

Section 25.095 (Including 25.0951 and 25.0952) This section defines what proceedures the District or school can take if a child is absent or truant under State Law.

Section 28.002 - This section defines the basic scope of curriculum that students must engage in.
