Literature based homeschooling is, in nut shell, a more traditional homeschooling method without the traditional text books and work books. Instead, this approach takes readily available story books, biographies, classical literature and other genres to teach subjects like History and Language Arts, even Math. The emphasis is placed on reading and interaction between parent anbd child. Learning out comes are focused more on what the child knows or retains than on what the child does not know.
