Un-Enrolling In HISD To HomeSchool Your Child

Here is a list of suggestions on what you need to consider doing when your child is already enrolled in Houston Independent School District (HISD), or just about any school district in Texas.

• You can with draw your child at any time during the school year.
• Send a written Letter of Assurace to the Principal of your child's school immediately.
• Use the Return Reciept Request Service from the post office so that you will have proof of mailing.
• Always Keep any and all written correspondence that you recieve.
• Request that all communication with you be done in writing.
• Return all your books and supplies in a timely manner.
• Get a curriculum as soon as possible.*

*Unschooling is legal in Texas and in general no written curriculum is used.
